Narrow is the Way
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult
is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14
This passage is usually used by religious leaders to "scare" people into following their
doctrines and teachings concerning heaven and hell. But the two paths are quite easily
understood when one considers how most people live in this world. Most are living
outwardly, being motivated by this physical realm and its riches, thus looking to it for
answers and happiness. The problem is that this physical world and its riches are
temporary and not eternal; thus the foundation for one's life being led this way is like a
house being built on sand. It is an illusion, not eternal, and will eventual fall. Therefore,
the broad way which leads unto destruction (self-induced I might add!) is to be led
outwardly; following the five senses and mind as led by the physical world completely
void of the leadings of one's soul by the Holy Spirit. The narrow gate then, is to be
inwardly led by the Holy Spirit which communicates to your soul through an inner
knowing. This way the mind and physical body can come into harmony with the Spirit of
God, being led as one from within. The truths understood this way are eternal and is like
building a house (or your life) on a solid foundation- "a rock." The Spirit brings Life...
Why do I say to follow the truth within? I write this short article because of the many
e-mails I receive asking me about the statement, "The truth will only be found within you."
This statement is made on the cover page of JesusReligion.Com and really messes with
the religious. It is amazing to me the amount of "bible thumpers" who would stand up and
fight for their religion, yet are unaware that Jesus stated (not me), truth is to be found
within...right in their bibles:
"The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor
knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." John 14:17
Jesus was speaking of the Holy Spirit speaking to the hearts of mankind - from within
their inner most being. This is what Jesus meant when he stated, "The kingdom of God
is within you." Everything, "your source" is within your very being. I had one gentleman
state that the 911 hijackers who crashed jumbo jets into the World Trade Center Towers
were following what they believed to be truth within. He was wrong. The hijackers were
following man-made rules and orders in their heads, not the spirit of love and truth within
their hearts. There is a difference between following the brain and following the heart.
Jesus never asked to be worshipped, but pointed to the Father. When we follow Spirit,
we are paying "reverence" to the Divine:
"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is spirit and those
who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24
And now for my favorite:
"For as many are led by the spirit of God, these are the sons of God." Romans 8:14
(Notice Paul did not say, "those who are led by the bible, church, pastor, or
denominational doctrine!")
